It has certainly been a challenging year for all and the situation concerning Covid 19 has affected many events and community work. Cassandra and I decided to postpone our workshops held throughout the summer until later this year and fortunately our understanding clients were able to alter their schedules too.
Workshops at present need to be carried out while maintaining a social distance. At the moment we host them at our Village Hall as Cassandra’s cottage is far too small for this requirement.
Although the village hall does not have the same ambiance as the cottage, the local residents have done an impressive job of giving the rooms a thorough cleanse. There are certain guidelines that need to be adhered to of cleaning the areas before and after use.
Our September workshop was our first one this year and we were fortunate to have only two clients to try out these changes and test the new way of working. The kitchen within the hall is not in use, so we were unable to offer the refreshments we would usually provide while at the cottage.
Cassandra began the afternoon session by discussing all aspects of the Cunning Craft and working as a Wisewoman. At times her ‘train of thought can meander into other areas and I am able to bring this to her attention and steer the discussion back to the original subject. We were asked by the village hall committee to keep the doors and windows open to ventilate the area. During the afternoon we were visited by four Red Admiral butterflies which was a pleasant distraction!
Our clients had a different views on various aspects of the Old Craft as one is in the process of training within a magical group and the other is a healing practitioner with a keen interest in the land and folklore which produced fascinating discussion. We had a short break to enjoy the sunshine outside and then set up the table for our practical work.
My work includes the construction of charms, therefore creating a Witch Bottle spell would utilise the same Correspondences when researching the correct ingredients to place within the bottles.
We have seen a variety of bottles and jars personally chosen by clients for each workshop and on this occasion our ladies had chosen huge receptacles! They gave a lot of individual thought concerning the ingredients by studying the Correspondence table provided. When they were satisfied with their choices and had gathered all they required, the construction work began.
We guided them through the first stage of their bottle/jar spell and after the workshop they take them home and complete them by adding their personal DNA to it before filling the bottle/jar with liquid. When our afternoon session had come to an end it took us quite a while to clean any surfaces we had used before leaving the premises.
After a two hour dinner break our clients visited the cottage conservatory to bless their jars and then we transported our two ladies to a ‘place of power’ and gave them guidance in energizing their spells. We experienced a stunning sunset that evening and immediately after our energy raising, a murder of crows flew overhead. We sat quietly for a while enjoying the feeling of the energy raised and the stillness of the air around us as the sun descended on the horizon.
We returned to the cottage and spent time in Cassandra’s conservatory where we were able to maintain social distance and enjoyed a glass of Cornish mead with saffron cake, while discussing the day and answering any questions they had.
It was a successful workshop, even though there were some aspects of it that were quite different to the workshops we are accustomed to. We look forward to our next one!
“‘A very informative workshop. Cassandra and Laetitia shared their working knowledge and were very welcoming. A good format to the day.” N.G.
“I attended the course Folklore and found it a really interesting. The new measures in place for covid do not take anything away from the experience and all was done really well. It was a wonderful day full of interesting experiences and I felt I learned a lot. I left in the evening feeling inspired to try new ideas at home.” S.L.
This particular workshop occurred during the full moon phase. It was workshop 3 utilising various methods of spirit communication. During the afternoon we focused on elemental spirits and then other spirit forms during the evening. The energies from the full moon came to the fore and provided profound experiences for our group.
Cassandra took the group members to woodland and set exercises for them to encourage insight into the hidden world of the elementals. I remained at the cottage on this occasion as I had some urgent work to do for another client.
The exercises need total focus and discipline as it is easy to let your mind wander onto other matters, however this occurs less with practice. The group returned to the cottage to discuss their personal experiences and discoveries.
After guided meditations in the evening to set up a protective space and connecting with spirit symbols and guides, we utilised various methods of spirit communication.
We discussed symbolic meanings of visitations and experiences during meditations.
The group then experienced methods of psychometry, scrying and use of a communication board.
We had significant evidence from spirit communication particularly with the psychometry exercise. It is wonderful to see their reactions when group members discover they can access information from tuning in to these objects.
This particular workshop is intense and group members work hard and therefore achieve results. They left us commenting on how much they had learnt about the subject and also about themselves.
“Thanks to u both, I got such a lot from the workshop, really interesting & so useful to me on a personal level. If you do decide to start a development group let me know. Amazing workshop, I’m completely worn out today & cant stop thinking about the things I experienced, thanks so much xx“
“Third workshop done and this weekend was amazing. Cassandra & Laetitia have been amazing teachers. If you get the chance book your place on their workshops. Again thank you ladies was amazing weekend see you September”
We had a wonderful time on our June Sea Magic workshop. Three adorable people attended who had been to previous workshops. The glorious weather enhanced the powerful energies we experienced that weekend.
During out introduction evening, members of our workshop discussed their personal spiritual journeys and as always, some interesting subjects were raised for discussion.
On Saturday afternoon Cassandra spoke about divination methods: Tarot, Astrology and Dowsing. It was enlightening to hear experiences from the group of various results they achieved by utilising these methods.
I spoke about the history of sea witchery, the local legends, sea spirits and using various objects: sea shells, coral, pearls, sea pods and mermaid’s purses.
Our visit to Sennen Cove was welcomed by the group after an intense afternoon of taking in so much information.
Morvargh’s presence was requested by one person and her energy blended well within our Sea Magic Workshop.
I later guided our group members to an area of the beach with fewer people, to connect with the spirits and cast spells that were prepared at the cottage.
It was then time for relaxation and contemplation by a small fire while watching the sun descend. How sublime!
It was a fabulous workshop indeed, with wonderful people and perfect weather.
“Feedback “It went too quickly….so much, and so many treasure chambers to explore.
The sea spell was the highlight, both the preparation and the casting. I felt free, not bound in any way. For me it was important the next day to sit for a while in a stone circle to come back to earth. The magic of the sea as a child returned and made much more sense.I would have loved to have spent more time on the tarot and astrology, but next time eh.
Enjoyed the saffron cake thank you very much.” A
“”Had a very interesting and informative weekend with Cassandra and Tia and two great people who attended the workshop. Cassandra went through Astrology which I am very interested in and tarot her knowledge is amazing. Then Tia explained about sea magic and the spirits of the sea and how to use shells in spells. The icing on the cake was going to the beach and releasing the spells into the sea and watching the sunset was Magical I highly recommend Cassandra and Tia’s workshop it’s not to be missed ” N
After our Swiss workshop in April on a larger scale, we have returned to our usual Spring and Summer workshops with a smaller group. It was a beautiful sunny weekend but still quite cool for the time of year.
On Friday evening we discovered more about our members, their lives and spirituality. This raised some interesting spiritual topics, ideas and experiences.
During Saturday afternoon Cassandra discussed the use of magical charms and working with clients. All members of the workshop are given copies of correspondences for the construction of charms, the planetary hours and tables. They were also shown the use of an Ephemeris.
I then took the group through the process of planning their charms and constructing them. Each charm is unique as the maker chooses their own ingredients, metals, gemstones, plants and aromatic substances to generate energy within them. Not all people enjoy or are able to sew charms bags and will use another method of housing their chosen ingredients.
On Saturday evening I took them through the process of blessing their charms at the hearth. We then visited the magical Boscawen-un stone circle as the sun descended and gave members of our group time with the stones and feel the energies of this wonderful site.
As the last person completed the circuit the star of Venus graced us with her presence, shining brightly in the sky. We then raised energy to magically charge their charms.
The temperature lowered as the darkness enveloped the site and it was time to return to the glowing embers of our hearth to partake of Cornish mead and saffron cake. A fabulous weekend!
